The founder, Colin Sunkel, started photography over 40
years ago. His son, Kurt (that's me), studied
photography and practiced as a professional photographer
for 12 years before launching thephotolab@studio22 in
2002 - now known as Studio22.
Colin's drive for quality lead him to opening his own
in-house lab as far back as 1985. As others came to hear of his work,
there grew a demand to print for other photographers.
Our experienced team does not only include the members,
two of the over 22 staff members have been
with the company for close to 20 years.
Personal message:
"In 2002 we installed our first digital printer and
opened our doors to all photographers and enthusiasts
looking for professional service, by people who
understand the industry. Years of experience in
professional colour and Black & White darkroom work was
followed by a few months of in-store experience at
Britain's leading photographic retailer, Jessops, in
London. This sparked my keen interest in retail and
offered me the opportunity to work with all the big name
